We have been so busy lately (I know everyone says this), so again, a few instagram pictures. We have travelled a lot for weddings… so awesome roadtripping while shooting awesome people (with a camera ;).
By the way, today is my last day at capetownmagazine.com as the managing editor … so exciting to be my own boss from tomorrow on!
Have you heard of Kid-in?

“Kid-in is a platform for the diverse perspectives of a wide range of international and local designers and photographers, artists and thinkers, focusing on the singular subject of childhood.
We exist as a magnet for unique and creative expression regarding this singular moment in existence, left of field from the typical approach. Concepts of normal and abnormal are unavoidably held to question – but always with unfailing humor and respect.
Parents and artists ourselves, our goal is to return as genuinely as possible to the rarified view of the child, achieved only by setting our minds free.
This magazine is a celebration: of the magical realism inherent in childhood, and of the surreal nature of its imaginative realm.”

I heard there’s this great new skateboard mag out there. Dank magazine – “Dank” is a colloquial norwegian term for ”passing time whilst doing absolutely nothing”. We chose the name for a number of reasons, most notably that it plays on a common misconception of skateboarders as a bunch of slackers.
Dank is an independent skateboard magazine from Oslo, Norway. The magazine was founded in 2010 by three friends brought together by a shared passion for skateboarding and print media.
Yes, we are shooting weddings like nuts at the moment – at least one per week. It’s a lot of fun and we get to travel as well. Leanne and Gertjan celebrated their gorgeous love feast at the Gariep Dam. South Africa is a beauty. More pix here.
Last year I met Martin, a dj from Hamburg through my (this) blog and through him a bunch of other dj’s from Hamburg. One of them is Basti, you might know his blog blogbuzzter.
When they visited Cape Town early this year, he asked us about our five favorite things, so watch what this is all about :)

Concocted by artist Kurt Perschke, The Red Ball Project is an initiative which sees huge vinyl red balls popping up in tight spaces all over various cities, including Portland, Chicago, Taipai, Sydney, Aru Dhabi, and Barcelona. The main aim of the project is to “access the imagination embedded in all of us” says the artist. “On the surface, the experience seems to be about the ball itself as an object, but the true power of the project is what it can create for those who experience it. It opens a doorway to imagine what if?” There’s only one ball, one city at a time, so watch out.

To commemorate the former President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, a three-storey high sculpture has been erected at the Ford’s Theatre Centre for Education and Leadership, made from over 15,000 books. The gargantuan memorial, aptly named “tower of books”, has been placed here in Washington because Lincoln died in the neighbouring house.

What do you think of this knit-furniture? I guess it has its charm.
