New exhibition @ WHATIFTHEWORLD

It’s still one of my favourite galleries in Cape Town… let’s check out the new exhibition… here we go:

MAYBE YOUR MAGIC IS WORKING

SOLO EXHIBITION BY DANIELLA MOONEY

OPENING: SATURDAY 29 JAN 11H00 – 14H00

Whatiftheworld is pleased to present the debut solo exhibition by Daniella Mooney, the promising young sculptor recently featured as a ‘Bright Young Thing’ in Art South Africa Magazine (Vol 08 Issue 03).

MaybeYour Magic is Working

A solo exhibition by Daniella Mooney

29 January – 19 February, 2011

Daniella Mooney’s first solo show sees the artist taking on the role of shaman, alchemist and creator – with an exhibition that articulates the fragility, whimsy and inevitable decay that encapsulates the universal human position

With media as diverse as moss and borrowed wishes (retrieved from corporate fountains and forested baths), black fountains and light itself, Mooney’s exhibition posits art as a catalyst, and a container, for some of the enchantment of nature, science and everyday life. The artist uses her impeccable craftsmanship to carve, mould, burn and build; to create works as intriguing, beautiful and tragic as nature itself.

MaybeYour Magic is Working is the debut exhibition of an artist who is destined to surprise and enthrall the South African public for some time; a sculptor and storyteller perpetually caught between the earth and the sky.

It’s so hot…. I feel like…

Kalk Bay, the harbour, buying a snoek for a dinner-braii and a big bottle of Ginger Beer. Yeah. Happy hot Tuesday! x
